HOLLOWED STATEMENT
Each work is made of a stack of eight planks, with cut-out painted edges.
1. The work is the carved out 'object' as such – the stack.
2. The work is the path through the stack, from the top plank A – to the bottom plank B.
This can also be reversed from B to A. Or be spread out.
3. The work is the process of the path A-B.
4. The work is the mental redoing of the path by the person looking at it.
As a trans-formation, the Hollowed works are not settled into one single set form. Form exists through different modes, equivalent and simultaneous: the static 'object', its spread out, the path, the laying out process itself and its mental redoing.
All these modes constitute the form of the work.
I made a Demo film presenting this for each Hollowed work.
The Hollowed works (until now) are: Hollowed, Hollowed Corners, Hollowed Dig, Hollowed Pits, Hollowed Corners 4-in-1, Hollowed Corners 5-in-1, Hollowed Sides, Hollowed-In.
